Last year Washington Community School District saved approximately $78,000 by being a part of the Iowa Educators Consortium and the foodservice cooperative with the Iowa Association of Educational Purchasing. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen explained the district saved about $19,000 in library and technology purchases, $15,000 in classroom and office purchases and nearly $45,000 in food purchases. He also encourages parents to apply for lunch refunds resulting from a class action lawsuit.
