A woman has plead guilty to 2nd Degree Theft in connection with embezzlement committed while working as City Clerk in Kinross. 41-year-old Toni Lynn Miller was initially charged with 1st degree theft and had a trial scheduled for late October.

Her sentencing is set for November 14th. Keokuk County Attorney John Schroeder says she could get up to five years in prison.

According to a report the Iowa State Auditor released in May, Miller issued an estimated $17,000 worth of unauthorized checks to herself. The special investigation conducted between January 2008 and October of 2013 was requested by the City of Kinross after Miller admitted to the embezzlement.
