A Keokuk County community will join others across the country in celebrating National Night Out. Tonight’s event in downtown Sigourney from 5 to 8pm will include performances from local musicians and dance squads.

Sigourney Administrative Assistant Mallory Snakenberg shares one of the kids activities involves finding different officers and asking them specific questions. If they complete the form, the child gets their name entered into a drawing for an annual pool pass.

National Night Out is a partnership between communities and their police departments to foster the relationship between officers and citizens. It’s been held annually across the United States since 1984, and in Sigourney for the past five years.
