Uncharacteristic. That is the word that kept coming up during the post game interview with Highland head coach Carrie Wieland after her teams 6-2 loss to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont.

Highland started the game off the right way, putting the Rockets down in short order and loading the bases with one out, but the next two outs came quickly and Highland left three on. As if that was an omen, the Huskies had two outs in the top of the second, and an infield fly ball was dropped for an error, which led to three runs coming in with two outs to make it 3-0 Rockets.

Highland scored one run in the second to make it 3-1 Rockets, but left two more on. Highland scored their second and final run in the third, but ended up leaving seven runners on in the first four innings, while the defense combined for five official errors and many other missed throws and bobbled catches that could have gone as errors if dropped.

The Huskies were led by Katie Chalupa who went 1-3 with a run and an RBI. Springer went seven innings, gave 12 hits and six runs but only two earned.

Today the Huskies play for third place against Woodbury Central who lost 3-2 to Earlham.

Woodbury Central has their entire batting order hitting over .300, and are led by Halle Still with a .430 average with 38 RBIs, a homer and 32 runs scored. In the circle is Still with a 16-3 record, 94 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .190 off of her.
