Washington County may soon be listed as “storm ready” by the National Weather Service. Washington and Keokuk Emergency Managament Coordinator Larry Smith explained at the Local Emergency Planning Committee he is working on the application for the National Weather Service title. At this time, 15 counties in Iowa are designated Storm Ready inculding Johnson and Iowa counties.

Also, tomorrow Smith will discuss with the Washington County Supervisors the disaster declaration for the county. The supervisors’ meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.
