Government offices are closed today in recognition of the federal holiday. City halls and libraries are closed, including those in Washington, Kalona and Wellman. The Washington County Courthouse is also closed for Independence Day. Mail will not be delivered today, and most banks and credit unions in the area won’t open due to the federal holiday.
