The Washington County Fair Board has been working to make the fairgrounds green with solar energy. The Washington County Riverboat Foundation presented a grant to further the project. President of the Foundation, Patty Koller, awarded the grant for $73,081. The fairgrounds installed solar panels last summer to help make the fair more eco-friendly. The first fairgrounds in the state to do so.

The Foundation presented 54 grants last week for nearly $1 million.
