The Washington Community School district will have a few changes thanks in part to funding from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. A $60,000 grant presented by president of the Foundation Patty Koller will go to the middle school to purchase 440 Chromebooks. These computers will fulfill the school’s 1:1 initiative.

Computers will also be purchased for TAG students with a $1,900 grant. The Washington Parent Teacher Organization received a grant for $1,880 to upgrade water fountains so students will be able to refill water bottles. And the Washington Tree Committee will be planting trees around the new high school for rainscaping with a $2,569 grant.

In total, 54 grants were awarded at the event for nearly $1 million.
