Proceeds from a breakfast being held in Kalona this morning will be used to build a new park. The Kalona Rotary Club’s annual omelet breakfast will run from 6:45 to 10:30 at the Kalona United Methodist Church.

Every year, they choose a different organization or effort to donate the proceeds to, and this year they chose the proposed Partners in Reading Park that will be located next to the Kalona Library.

According to Kalona Library Director Ann Skaden, it was suggested by Velma Skola, a long time library board member, who passed away in the fall. A grant application has been submitted to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, and if a grant is awarded, it would be matched by the Library Foundation, Friends of the Library group and the Skola family.
