An EF1 tornado touched down in southeast Iowa Sunday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service’s tornado survey results, the half-mile wide tornado touched down south of Hedrick, traveled 44 miles and ended near Cosgrove in Johnson County. While the tornado was active between 3:30 and 4pm, that area saw wind speeds as high as 115 mph.

The storm killed one person and injured another. Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith says they received reports of uprooted trees and outbuildings being blown apart following the storm.
