The Mid-Prairie boys hosted their first track meet of the year on Thursday night. Mid-Prairie placed third as a team with 121 team points. Lisbon was the team meet winner with a score of 139. The Golden Hawks got out to a quick start thanks to their distance runners as Jared Draper and Ryan Errthum went one and two in the 3200 meter run respectively.
Mid-Prairie’s Ty Feigenspan had a huge night for the Hawks with three event wins and a third place finish. Feigenspan took the 400 with a time of 54.08. He was also part of the championship 4×800 team for Mid-Prairie that included Andrew and Zeb Schwartz and Collin Webber with a time of 8:43.18. Feigenspan’s third gold came as part of the distance medley team with Austin Errthum, Canaan Powell, and Zeb Schwartz with a time of 3:50.38. Feigenspan shared the bronze in the 4×400 event with teammates Zeb and Andrew Schwartz and Evan Wild. After the meet Feigenspan talked about his big night.
“With the 4×800 team tonight, it was fun because you can do it fresh, and especially with having our first two guys being a little bit younger and having a chance to get out fast and get out strong so that Evan and I, who have other races in the night, don’t have to spend so much in the first race, and they did a great job of that,” Feigenspan said. “[In] the open 400, it was run for me and Zeb, the seniors out there racing against each other. In the distance medley, we were hoping to qualify for Drake, but with the pace of the meet tonight and us having so many races, none of us were fresh, I was really just focused on going out and I just loved the opportunity to run fast and the opportunity to try and qualify and we didn’t get it this time, but now we just focus on state.”
Mid-Prairie will next be in action Tuesday at their home coed meet.
