An elected official will head to China in a few days to promote Iowa’s beef and pork. Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey, who goes on these trips to promote all aspects of the agriculture sector, says Iowa’s relationship with China is an important one. He shares the state exports $2 billion worth of pork to China annually. That’s about 30% of the pork Iowa produces. He says the Asian country also imports billions of dollars in corn, soybeans and beef from Iowa.
