Kalona’s contracts for county services for the next fiscal year have been approved. The City Council approved them at their meeting Monday. Their contract with the Washington County Communication Center for their dispatch services increased by roughly $2,000. The County’s communication commission uses a formula to decide how much each town will pay annually. It factors in things like the number of calls received during the prior year. Kalona’s assessed value based on the Auditor’s valuation report played the biggest role, going from around $159 million in 2012 to $161 million in 2013.
