A Wellman man was arrested following an accident on Highway 22 Saturday. According to the Washington Safety Center, at 4:52 p.m. it was reported that a vehicle hit the guard rail in the 1800 block of Highway 22 and a male subject hit his head and was bleeding. Three people were in the car and Highway 22 was blocked for approximately half an hour.

Twenty-five-year-old Robert Gatewood was arrested for operating while intoxicated, child endangerment, operating a non-registered vehicle, no proof of insurance, failure to maintain control and no drivers license.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. Wellman QRS, Wellman Rescue, Wellman Fire and Washington County Sheriff’s personnel responded to the scene.
