Nobody applied for Fairfield’s trial deer hunt. Fairfield Police Lieutenant Colin Smith says the hunts were going to be conducted within city limits last weekend and this coming weekend.

He explains that the lack of interest may have been due to the fact the dates are so close to holidays. The police department is now looking at the first archery season in October for the trial hunt.

Smith says in hopes of attracting local hunters, they’ll try and get the hunt approved by the city council earlier and have it open for the entire archery season.
