Washington County could see its first frost at any point now. The average first frost date for the area is October 13th according to the National Climatic Data Center. Master Gardener Kay Ciha is preparing her garden for the colder weather. She recommends watering new plants and trees before the ground freezes. She adds that putting a few inches of mulch around newly planted trees is also a good idea.
