A member of the Kalona City Council is resigning. After serving eight years on the city council, David Bentley announced at Monday’s meeting that he would be leaving the seat due to job commitments.

His second term was set to end in November. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says, ideally, they would appoint someone to the position, with that person filling in for the next few months.

But, a special election is possible, if the community calls for one.  Bentley’s resignation is effective August 12th.
