Washington is the home of a competitive cyclist who recently took 4th place in her division at the USA Cycling National Championships. Fourteen-year-old Alijah Beatty competed in the 17-mile road race in Madison, Wisconsin, in the women’s 13-14 age division and placed 4th. She is also the current points leader in the 10-race Iowa Cup in her division. Currently, she is preparing for a race in Des Moines and hopes to join a professional team in the future. Beatty will be starting her freshman year at IMS this fall. She is the daughter of Mark and Susan Beatty.
