The Washington County Board of Supervisors denied a request for bonuses in a county department during their meeting yesterday morning. Washington County Attorney Larry Brock requested $5,000 bonuses for three employees who have worked to collect fees. Brock explained that the overdue collections are allocated with 40-percent going to the general fund, 48-percent goes to the clerk of court and the remaining 12-percent is deposited to the county attorney’s department.

Ultimately, the county attorney does have the authority to set the assistant county attorney’s wages, which is the lowest relative assistant wage in the courthouse. It is currently set at 55-percent of the county attorney’s salary.

Officially the supervisors denied the request unanimously.
