The United States Senate is currently working on the Farm Bill. Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley says that he believes the bill will be finished in the Senate this week and expects the House of Representatives to take it up on June 13th. He says that he thinks the Farm Bill will be in conference around July 4th and to the president before their August summer break. The primary difference in the two branches’ bills is that the Senate looks to save $4 billion on food assistance programs while the House is looking to cut approximately $16 billion, according to Grassley.
