As the Iowa River continues to rise, the City of Columbus Junction is taking precautionary measures. City officials are meeting daily to go over data and changes to flooding risks. According to Columbus Junction Mayor, Dan Wilson, excavators began working to raise the levee by five feet at the Louisa County Fairgrounds yesterday. Since Wednesday, students from Columbus High School have been filling sandbags, which will be used on side-roads and low lying areas in the city, if the need arises.
