Washington County’s unemployment rate dropped from 5.2-percent in March to 4.5-percent in April. The state’s unemployment rate during the same time period fell slightly from 4.9-percent to 4.7-percent. Keokuk County’s rate dropped more than a percentage point to 4.7-percent from its 6-percent mark in March.

The following counties’ unemployment rates for the month of April are as follows: Louisa, 4.3-percent; Jefferson, 5.4-percent; Johnson, 3.1-percent; Henry, 5.2-percent; and Iowa, 4.8-percent.
