The Washington boys got the win last night over Fairfield.
Washington came out with the lead in a low scoring first quarter winning 8-2 after one.
In the second everything was different, the Trojans stepped up their play and started sinking some shots, all while a lot of physical play was causing some chaos for the Demons.
Fairfield took at 16-11 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half the leading scorers for Washington came out ready to play with Kyle Roder nailing a couple of threes early, but right as Fairfield was getting back into it and extending their lead, Alex Coker came out and had two three point play attempts, nailed one and, missed the free throw on the other.
Demon head coach Bryce Smeins said he thought this was Coker’s best game.
“Our effort was there I thought we rebounded lights out tonight, and I thought Coker and Hoffman were monsters off the glass tonight,” Smeins said. “Coker had a great game tonight had a couple of three point plays tonight and I think it was his best game and he was a big reason for [the win] tonight.”
The Demons trailed by three after three.
In the fourth quarter, the defense for the Demons shut down Fairfield, and a couple of three’s from Justin Hoffman and 12 points off of the free throw line gave the Demons the win 42-25.
The Demons were led by Roder with 15 on the night.
Washington plays again Tuesday against Pella.
