The Mid-Prairie wrestling team squared off with three quality opponents Tuesday night in a Quadrangular at Columbus. Mid-Prairie fell to Columbus in their first dual of the night 47-25. Recording falls for Mid-Prairie were Miguel Sanchez at 152, Phirom Peterschmidt at 182, and Nearoth Peterschmidt at 195. The Wildcats got falls from Austin Edwards at 132, Mitchell Rousch at 138, Zac Howell at 145, Javier Diaz at 170, Angel Lagunas at 285 and Adrian Santos at 120.
The Golden Hawks then edged Camanche 40-38. Mid-Prairie scored the win with falls from Sydney Bowlin at 132, Kendall Bontrager at 138, Miguel Sanchez at 152, Eesaa Baylor at 170, Phirom Peterschmidt at 182, and Nearoth Peterschmidt at 195.
In the final match up of the night Mid-Prairie and Iowa City Regina tied through regulation but the Regals took the event on criteria winning seven of the 13 contested matches. Mid-Prairie got falls from Josh Murphy at 113, Kendall Bontrager at 138, Miguel Sanchez at 152, and Phirom Peterschmidt at 185. Mid-Prairie is now 8-3 overall and will next be in action in a triangular Thursday at Wilton against the Beavers and the West Branch Bears.
Following their win over Mid-Prairie to open the event Columbus went on to beat Iowa City Regina 46-27. The Wildcats recorded falls with Adrian Santos at 120, Robert Martinez at 126, Mitchell Roush at 138, Zac Howell at 152, and Mark Ramirez at 195. Columbus went on to finish out an undefeated night routing Camanche 51-22. In the dual the Wildcats got pins from Austin Edwards at 132, Mitchell Roush at 138, Zac Howell at 145, Javier Diaz at 170, Mark Ramirez at 220, and Angel Lagunas at 285. Columbus is now 7-3 on the season and will next be in action Saturday in Centerville at the Big Red Invitational.
