One of the biggest tourist draws in the area will soon be welcoming a new addition. During the last round of Washington County Riverboat Grants, the Kalona Chamber of Commerce was bestowed with nearly $40,000 in funds to buy a new bus for their By-Ways Tour. They’ll also be receiving matching $5,000 donations from the Kalona Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce.

Norma Yoder with the chamber says the new step on bus will offer additional passenger room and will replace their current bus that has around 264,000 miles.

The By-Ways Tour is open April through October and follows country roads through Kalona’s Amish country.
