A government program is making sure Iowans don’t lose power this winter. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps those who are eligible prepare for potentially higher heating bills.

LIHEAP provides financial assistance to cover a portion of a consumer’s winter heating costs.

The program also protects qualified households from natural gas or electric service disconnection during the annual moratorium, which starts Thursday and ends April 1st.
