The City of Kalona is seeking a grant to help pay for a new vehicle for the Fire Department. At this weeks City Council meeting, the Council approved a Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant application for a new fire truck.

The amount being requested is $250,000. According to City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, the total cost of the pumper truck is $600,000.

The application will be submitted for the fall grant cycle.
