Two open burn bans that were issued a month ago have been lifted. Iowa County Emergency Management Coordinator Josh Humphrey and Solon Fire Chief Dan Smith say the conditions have improved to where the bans can be lifted in Iowa and Johnson Counties. Previously, open burns were too dangerous and had the potential to threaten lives and properties.
During the bans, the only way a burn could be conducted was through a permit. Iowa County’s ban was lifted at 8:00 this morning and Johnson County’s was lifted at noon.
