The No. 4 Mid-Prairie softball team travel back to Ft. Dodge for some familiar territory tonight when they face No. 9 Ballard.

The 27-11 Golden Hawks rank in the top 10 in batting average and slugging, and just outside of the top 10 in on base percentage, and first in triples. The Golden Hawks are hitting .350 and have an on base percentage of .416.

Olivia Lugar has an ERA of 1.89 and opponents are hitting .247 off of her. She also has 143 strikeouts on the season.

Ballard, 32-9, ranks first in 3A in home runs with 25. They are hitting .342 and have an on base percentage just over, .400 at .401.

They have two pitchers with a combined ERA of 1.10, and opponents are hitting .176 of of them.

Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Lutjen says Ballard is just another team that will bring something to the table that the Golden Hawks have already seen.

“We’ve talked to different coaches who have given us some different information about them, but it is still take care of our business,” Lutjen said. “We’ve seen everything this year, we’ve seen pitchers that throw hard, we’ve seen pitchers that don’t throw hard. Clark was a great hitting team, so we’ve seen everything right now so like I say, it is about us, and if we got out there and take care of our business we’ll be fine.”

Pregame for the Golden Hawks will start at 11:15 with first pitch at 11:30. You can hear all of the action between the Mid-Prairie and Ballard in round one on AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com under radio plus. The one to count on for you State softball coverage is AM and FM KCII.
