The Washington Courthouse had a visitor from Iowa’s highest court yesterday. Supreme Court Justice Thomas Waterman is touring District 8A area to give updates on what is happening in the Supreme Court system, talk about the biggest challenges they face and hear concerns from those who work with the court system.
He says the Supreme Court is working on having an increased effort at transparency and public education while they are in session.
Justice Waterman was prompted to become a judge after the events of September 11th and the death of his father. He was appointed in 2011 to the Supreme Court after the non-retention vote ousted three judges in 2010.
