The Washington City Council passed an ordinance to allow golf carts on city streets as part of their meeting last night. This new ordinance will be to allow the carts to have the proper safety equipment installed while on the city streets. Discussion was also held regarding an ordinance to amend the city code regarding water rates and sewer usage charge. There will be a zero net effect for customers this year while the city reallocates the percentages of the rates.
A public hearing date was set for a fiscal year budget amendment which will take place on May 30th as well as a hearing date for tax abatement. The hearing for the tax abatement will happen next month.
The Council also talked about the restructuring of the 2006 Tax Increment Financing Revenue Bond debt. A resolution of refinancing the debt will take place during the May 30th meeting.
