Further investigation into a medical attention call south of Washington late last month has resulted in criminal charges.  According to the Washington County Safety Center, Shawn Reimers called 911 on March 22nd asking for medical attention in the 2800 block of Wayland Road.  Upon arrival, officers found Tim Peterson of Washington unconscious and unresponsive.  He was transported from the scene by Washington County Ambulance.

The investigation, conducted by the Washington County Sheriff’s and attorney’s office, shows Peterson flagged down Reimers as he was driving down Wayland road and confronted him about driving.

An intoxicated Peterson then struck Reimers as he began to leave the area. The reports states Reimers then stood up and threw a single punch at Peterson, striking him in the head and knocking him unconscious.

Medical records show Peterson’s blood alcohol level was 0.144, nearly twice the legal limit, after the incident.  County Attorney Larry Brock says Peterson has been charged with OWI, while Reimers faces no charges at this time because he acted in self-defense.
