A children’s books author visited Washington yesterday.  Author Carol Gorman was a guest at Lincoln Elementary to talk with the students in each grade level, and autographed copies of her books.  Gorman talked with students about her books and focused on things from her life that have gone into the books.

She started writing books because her husband suggested the idea.  Some of her books include Dork in Disguise, Chelsey and the Green-Haired Kid and Slumptown Kid.

Gorman says it takes one to two years to write a book and another year for the book to actually be published.  She gave assemblies at Lincoln as well as had lunch with the staff.

Gorman also receives many comments from students saying they were inspired by her visit and want to become a writer.
