The latest round of unemployment figures has been released and Washington County’s unemployment rate went down a little last month according to data released from the Iowa Workforce Development. Washington County has just under 12,000 people in the workforce. Washington County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.9% from 5.1% in June.
Unemployment rates averaged two-tenths of a percent lower in all of southeast Iowa. The lowest decrease was in neighboring Jefferson County while Johnson County’s unemployment rate went up by one-tenth of a percent.
When compared to national figures, Iowa’s unemployment rate is three percent lower.
