The Washington Demon softball team was able to play this past season on their new softball field, but there is still some work before it will be considered completed. The district was working against the clock to get the new field playable. Athletic Director Bryce Smeins says since the season has finished they have already put in asphalt parking area. They need to finish some of the landscaping around the facility including planting some grass. He also says they intend to add a couple of sets of bleachers in the outfield for those that like to watch from there. Those bleachers could also be turned around and providing seating for soccer. The Demons plan to use the open field behind the left field fence for soccer. Smeins says once the softball field is finished, the next project they hope to take on is making improvements to the baseball field. He says the fence and lights are showing their age and he feels that is holding them back from hosting some post season games.
