Another round of summer heat has returned to the area. The National Weather Service and AccuWeather expect hot and muggy conditions across the area today. They are predicting temperatures in the 90’s with heat index readings at or above 100 degrees for all of Southeast Iowa prompting the heat advisory. The advisory went into effect yesterday afternoon and remains in effect until midnight tonight.
During a heat advisory, residents are advised to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks from outdoor work, and to check on the young and elderly. The period of heat is expected to be short, however, as temperatures will lower into the 80s with a slight chance of storms each day of the holiday weekend.
