A Washington County 4-H member has received a state award.  Lauren Carter, daughter of John and Kim Carter has been given the state 4-H Citizenship Project award.  These project awards are the highest achievement a 4-H’er can receive.

Carter is one of 50 Iowa 4-H’ers who have earned a state project award.  She has been a member of 4-H for seven years and has completed projects on communications, swine, visual arts, beef, 4-H history and family heritage.

Carter says that 4-H has taught her the skills that she can use throughout her life and has taught her how to be responsible and keep accurate records.  She adds that she has been able to improve valuable communication, citizenship and leadership skills that will be useful throughout her life.

Carter has been the president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club and also participates in the Washington County 4-H County Council.
