New members have been chosen to the National Honor Society at the Washington High School. Six Seniors and 21 Juniors were elected to membership. Angela Taylor, Honor Society Advisor says the students chosen all have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
She says they also are considered on the basis of character, leadership and service. Taylor says character is someone who follows school rules, promotes a positive attitude and is helpful to newcomers in the building.
Leadership skills need to be shown in school or community activities, using their time volunteering to make the community a better place. The students have to give back to their community either their school, church or volunteering in the community to be eligible for the service requirement.
Taylor adds the local chapter of The American Association of University Women will hold a reception for these new members and their parents at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:30 pm. To see the list of students, click here.
