The U.S. Department of Agriculture has declared Washington and Jefferson counties as disaster areas. Iowa Second District Congressman Dave Loebsack says “the impact of recent flooding has been devastating to … farms in southeast Iowa” and new funding available through the Department of Agriculture will provide the assistance “necessary to clean-up, rebuild and recover.”  Loebsack says agricultural producers and farm operators in Washington and Jefferson county should contact their local Farm Service Agency office to determine if they are eligible for disaster assistance.  Information can also be found at disasterassistance.gov.
