Washington City Councilman Mike Roth has requested that the fire department determine whether or not the Mills Seed Building in the 200 block of North Iowa Avenue is a fire hazard. He says he was against the February action that moved the building from North 7th Avenue, and little work has been done to repair the damaged structure in the past six months. Councilman Bob Shepard also voiced dissatisfaction at last week’s council meeting, saying he was disappointed how long Central Park’s fountain has gone without benches. Shepard told the council the money had already been donated, and he had told several constituents that the benches had already been ordered. The Council then unanimously approved the purchase of eight park benches for just under $9,000.
