Governor Chet Culver has honored eleven Iowa businesses and organizations for outstanding contributions to the environment, including one in Washington. The county’s Environmental Health Department was chosen for its progress on area septic systems, work that resulted in less waste water being released county wide.  Tomorrow, the Washington County Board of Supervisors will officially recognize the governor’s environmental award.  Supervisors will then review an application by Brenneman Pork to expand its animal confinement operation, and appointment a new member to the Veterans Affairs Commission.
