Kalona Days officials have announced the “Perfect Pickle Contest” to be judged at the annual Kalona Days. The competition is judged in two categories; best brined pickles and best alternative brined vegetables or other pickle-able foods. There is no fee to enter the contest. The pickles do not have to be from this year’s harvest but can be from other canning dates. Awards will be given in each category. 1st place wins 50 dollars, 2nd place 25 dollars and 3rd place 10 dollars. Advanced registration is mandatory. Forms can be picked up at JW’S Foods, Kalona News or the Kalona General Store. Forms can be emailed to info at Kalona general store dot com or by calling 656-3535. Registration deadline is this Saturday. The contest is open to all age groups.
