Washington’s Stewart Elementary School is getting a geothermal heating and cooling system. Interim Superintendent Dave Sextro says they partnered with the city to secure a one million dollar grant from the Iowa Office of Energy Independence. The money does require a local match, but the district is getting more than 700-thousand dollars from the state’s BEST Program, and more than 200-thousand from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.
