The Iowa Utilities Board is reminding Iowans who may need financial assistance paying their phone bill, that there is a program to help them. Link-Up assists qualified low-income Iowans in getting basic phone service by reducing connection charges by 50 percent or $30, whichever is less, and deferring the payment of the discounted connection charges without interest. The IUB says many families who qualify, aren’t aware of the program. Contact your local telephone company if you have any questions about Lifeline and Link-Up assistance or its application and verification processes.
