Contestants are being sought for this year’s Washington County Pork Queen Contest.

It’s open to girls who are juniors or seniors in high school through age 19. They must reside in Washington County and should be involved in the pork industry, or be the daughter of someone involved in the business.

Those interested should contact Amanda Vittetoe at 461-1165 or check with their school guidance office. Entry forms are due by February 17.

The organization is also offering a $500 scholarship to a student graduating this spring.

To be eligible, the student must be a Washington County resident, with plans to enter an accredited program with a minimum completion time of two years.

It’s not restricted to those majoring in an agricultural field, but does require the student to explain how his or her career choice will relate to the pork industry.

Applications need to be submitted to Rachel Berdo at 2504 Quince Avenue, Washington by February 26.
