The American Dental Association wants to be included the in the healthcare debate. Dr. Jim Harris is a Washington based dentist. He says that’s challenging because dental insurance is very different from medical coverage. He says dental costs are much more predictable. One the other hand, Harris says oral and medical healthcare closely related. Harris says there are aspects of the healthcare bill dentists would like to be included in. However, he says if it resembles the current Medicaid plan, he and his colleagues would likely be more reluctant.
