The Demon girls basketball team will have to wait a week longer than scheduled to open their season. The Demon girls were suppose to travel to Williamsburg to face the Raiders on Friday but Head Coach Phil Long says with Williamsburg reaching the volleyball state tournament, the girls playing volleyball that play basketball would have had only four days to get ready for their opener, so the schools decided to postpone the game until December 10th. As for the Demons, Long says they started practicing November 9th and took part in a scrimmage in Mediapolis put on by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. He says they played Assumption, Burlington, Fairfield and Winfield-Mount Union. As they get ready to open, Long says the next couple of weeks they will be working on a new offensive look. Finally he says in these early practices they’ve had problems with numbers because quite a few girls have been out sick or dealing with some injuries. The Demons open the season a week from Friday on the road at Ottumwa.
