The City of Keota has received a draft wastewater discharge permit from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The draft was submitted to the city council, and was discussed at their meeting on Monday. The draft sets limits on certain pollutants and outlines reporting requirements that the city will have to comply with. The letter also shows where the city needs to make improvements if they want to be compliant with state standards. The city council and mayor now have over a month to submit concerns they have with the proposal to the DNR.
