The Highland Huskies and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track and field teams stepped to the stage Monday night on Senior Night in Riverside and put on a show for the crowd.

The Golden Hawk girls were team champions with their 165 point total, topping second place Highland’s 92. The Mid-Prairie girls took home 10 gold medals on the night. Jovi Evans was a double individual winner, finishing first in the 100 and 200 in 12.61 and 25.87 seconds respectively. Tessa Brokaw beat the field in the 800 in 2:22.22. Kendal Landstrum broke the tape in the 1500 in 5:01.78. Harper Pacha won shot put throwing 36’1.5”. Jeorgia Evans cleared 17’6.75” to win long jump. In relays, the 4×100 of the Evans, Kyrie Poll and Myli Hershberger took the title in 50.05. In the 4×2 it was the Evans, Poll and Leah Kelley for the win in 1:46.26. The 4×4 team was best with Brokaw, Rachel Hostetler, Kelley and Ruby Miller in 4:17.16, and the Golden Hawk shuttle crew of Sophie Miller, Hershberger, Olivia Schlabach and Ruby Miller got gold in 1:09.49. Second place performances included Jeorgia Evans in the 200, Hostetler in the 800, Brooklyn Stutzman in the 1500, Sophie Miller in the 100 hurdles and Pacha in discus. Tessa Bombei was third in the 100 hurdles as was the sprint medley of Mylia and Graci Hershberger, Kelley and Poll.

The Highland girls were runners-up on senior night, scoring a pair of event championships. Alexa Hahn was the first across the line in the 400 in 1:02.28 and Kinzie Reuss won high jump flying over the bar at five feet. Runner-up events included Kamryn Fink in the 100, Hahn in long jump, Maiya Singbeil in the 400 hurdles, Chloe Sexton in shot put and the 4×100 team of Hailey Brun, Fink, Reuss and Hahn. The Huskies were third in the 4×200 with Brun, Fink, Ruess and Hahn and the shuttle with Brena Hazelett, Sienna Bell, Marley VanSchoyck and Singbeil.

It was a team title for the Mid-Prairie boys with their score of 142 points. New London was a distant second at 78. The Hawks won half dozen events including Carson Humphrey in the 110 highs at 16.33 seconds, Kendrick Kos the 400 hurdles in 57.30 seconds, Thomas Lueck in long jump at 20’6.75” and Kaden Kos throwing shot put 42’5”. The Golden Hawk shuttle team of Lueck, Morgan Northup, Humphrey and Harvey Bunting were first in 1:10.19 as was the sprint med of Theo Molczyk, Lenox Miller, Ryan Henry and Samuel Friessen in 1:40.74. Second place events were Kendrick Kos in the 100, Bronx Miller in the 400 and the 4×1 team with Lueck, Cecil Kelley, Nolan Jergens and Bronx Miller. In third were Jergens in the 100 and 200, Max Swartzentruber in the mile, Josh Turner in high jump and the 4×4 with Humphrey, Friessen, Northup and Max Kipp.

The Highland boys scored 30 points to finish eighth. Noah Hartzler led the way with a runner-up performance in the half mile. William Boileau-Futrell was third in shot put as was the sprint medley of Elvin Hernandez, Nate Clark, Caleb Wheeler and Brock Nebergall. Brody Beinhart was fourth in the two mile and the Highland distance medley of Hernandez, Wheeler, Nebergall and Hartzler were fifth.

As part of a Senior Night ceremony the Huskies honored William Boileau-Futrell, Elvin Hernandez, and Brena Hazelett.
