The Iowa Department of Transportation is alerting residents of a scam that has been circulating.

Fake vehicle registration vouchers are appearing in some Iowa mailboxes, luring recipients into revealing personal and financial information. They are not valid and not sent from the Iowa DOT. They do not use these types of vouchers in their system.

If you receive this voucher, it is advised to throw it away and report it to the Federal Trade Commission. If you are unsure of the validity, you can contact your County Treasurer’s Office.

Proper vehicle registration information comes from the Iowa DOT office.
